so i finally did it, i ordered my laptop; inspiron 1520, T7300, 1 gb ram, nvidia 8400m 128 mb.
dell charges an arm, a leg and your dog to upgrade the installed ram so i just went with 1 gb finding out that ram is fairly cheap online.
i dont' know the exact specs of my ram: 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz. it does not specify if it is one or two dimm (major spec in my opinion)
i have never upgraded notebook ram so i don't know the different speeds and dimm sizes (i think it is a 200-pin dimm).
could anyone help me by telling me what i can upgrade to?
max speed supported, dimm size, and if it is worth getting 3 gb ram for vista home ultimate aero glass? is there any brand i should watch out for as good or bad?
should i sell my 1 gb ram and buy 2 gb of same brand, model and even faster than 677?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

by the way, what does santa rosa have to do with ram? i read somewhere that santa rosa will not support ddr3 or ram faster than 677?
quick rundown would be useful, there are so many different explanations i am not sure i am getting it. -
crap... what is PC2 5300 and PC2 5400 on same speed 677?
-
Basically, the ram that you want is ddr2 pc5300 or 5400 667MHz in 200pin SODIMMS.
That's about it, because SR doesn't support faster ram, and ddr3 isn't even really out yet. -
Read the first post in the RAM Deals thread for more stuff!

You should have ordered it with 512mb ram becuase i;m pretty sure your 1GB ram will come in 2x512mbs.
Look for Sodimm, 200pin, 667mhz, and pc2-5300/5400 -

so does that mean it came with both slots filled already, or what?

FYI, one of the slots for the memory is located underneath the keyboard while the other slot is located on the underside/bottom of the laptop.
Look at the service guide in dell's support site for more information on how to remove the keyboard if you dont already know how.
