Buying a new laptop and don't want to loose any speed or processing capability for business app's. Have identified a good machine, priced right, with 2 GHz T7250 processor w/2 GB RAM. Currently have P4 w/.5 GB RAM. Trying to determine if I will be gaining/losing anything. Any feedback appreciated.

A 2GHz Core 2 is much faster than a 3GHz P4. The laptop will be a lot faster than what your used to.

Definitely not. The T7250 will be able to run laps around the 2.8 Ghz P4. Remember that not only is each individual core more efficient in its process, but that you get 2 true cores against 1 with the P4. I say make the upgrade, you will definitely notice an improvement.

Take a look at the numbers on the wPrime thread...

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=123570

Granted, wPrime is a synthetic benchmark, but even the fastest desktop single-core Pentium 4s are slower than the slowest mobile dual-core Core 2 Duos. And yes, this is not to mention power consumption, etc.
