    Hi,

I've been trying to make my laptop's mobility radeon 5470 gpu work without success.

I've tried a lot of drivers, officials, unofficials and HP webpage's drivers, I'm using display driver uninstaller too. They seem to install OK but after rebooting the screen doesn't turn on anymore.

    Is the GPU dead?

This doesn't sound good. Can you connect to an external monitor and does it show anything after the driver is installed? If you remove the driver, are you able to check if there's an "exclamation" next to the Display Adapter under Device Manager? If so, it might be dead or dying.
