Hi everyone. I purchased a WD 1TB external HDD not too long ago and had it formatted through Mac OS X to HFS+. A week later when I tried to access the drive, it said it was Unformatted and I could not find any partitions! I checked in Disk Utility and although it did detect the HDD, there was no partition to be found. Does anyone know how I can recovery the partition without having to repartition the HDD or do I return the HDD for a new one?

You may want to look at some data recovery software.
Its usually pricey, but, if you need it... http://www.google.com/search?q=HFS+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
...and still theres no guarantee it will work.

Also, try using a Ubuntu Live CD, download it from Ubuntu.com, burn it using PowerISO, boot from the disk, and see if you can see your files in the HDD. If so, use Ubuntu to transfer them to another drive, or DVD/CD's. ;)
