I've been looking around for a SSD and have come across these:

Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR120GB 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MX MKNSSDCR120GB-MX 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

They seem to very close in performance. I don't know much about SSDs, so I don't know which is better. I'll probably go with the first one.

I've also been looking at the Crucial M4, which I know everyone loves and is considered very stable. I haven't heard much about the Mushkin, but from what I have, they say it's very fast and works great. Just not sure about their reliability.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The deluxe uses 32nm toshiba toggle NAND goodness. However, mine just decided to die on me even if i didn't abuse the drive, bad luck i guess. It had been performing quite well before that.

Sucks to hear that. How long have you had it, and what is their warranty like?

So the deluxe version is the way to go.

Same controller on both, better NAND on the deluxe.

For $5 extra, go for the deluxe. I've had my chronos for about 10 months, never any problems at all and blazing fast. Guess I liked it enough to buy a second one this year :p

My take is why bother w/this stuff? Stick w/Crucial M4 or Samsung 830 when good deals pop up from time to time.

Crucial M4 was recently $110 at bhphotovideo.com and a few other places. It was $99 via Newegg on Ebay not long before that.

I'd rather pay a few more dollars than trust drives by tiny companies who likely don't have the resources to properly validate drives like the bigger guys and who don't make their own flash nor controllers. (Well, Crucial doesn't make their own controllers.)

FWIW, I have 2 Samsung 830s (neither is very old yet) and a ~2 year old Intel X25-M G2. The Intel is on my main machine that I use A LOT, everyday.

None has given me any trouble yet. My dad has another 830 but he only started using that machine recently.
