The DC jack does not work. It wont charge the battery and the computer will not run off of just the power adaptor. I replaced the DC jack, but to no avail... Does this mean new motherboard time? Also, is there a way I can splice my power adaptor directly into the laptop? It does not need to be mobile so that would work. Please help.

If it turns out that I do need a new motherboard, do you think I could use the board from the vostro 1420 (the new one) or is the layout different? Thanks a lot.
