    I have a Dell XPS M1730 with X7900 Cpu.
When I go to device manager, I can see only one core but not the other.
Also I can see very bad performance in game.
Is my processor gone bad or what??
    Replies will be much appreciated!!

When you are in task manager, go to the performance tab.
Go to the "view" pull down
Go to "CPU History" and click "One Graph per cpu"

That should update task manager to see both cpu's

You can run benchmarks on your CPU with programs like SISandra which allow you to benhcmark and compare your systems components to what they should be performing at.

You can also try downloading Coretemp. If it shows two temperatures your system is still seeing both cores.

I have personally never heard of a dual core die and become a single core. If one of the cores became defective the cpu wouldnt work at all.

You may have disabled dual-core support in your BIOS?

Yep, check the BIOS for any option related to the dual-core funcitionality. Would have been better if you posted this in the XPS forum....If you can't find anything, just restore the BIOS defaults.

In Device Manager, you can uninstall the processors, and restart. After restarting, windows will reinstall the processor drivers and it should install both cores, if dual core functionality has not been disabled.

Implying you found the option, set it to the proper value, and found that it still didn't work, or that you could not find the option and just tried setting whatever? Did you restore the default settings in the BIOS as Andy suggested? You've gotta give more detail here...
