    Hi there,

I've recently ordered an Asus W3V, and want to upgrade the RAM to increase its gaming capability (mostly BF2)
    couple questions:

1)is it advisable to get an extra 1GB, to make 1.5 GB? or is another 512 good for my needs? (Just want BF2 and HL2 to run nice and smooth)

    2) What brand of RAM is stock with the W3V? and , what are the exact specs of the RAM i'll be needing to get? (Sorry, not tech-savvy: DIMM, DDR2, all these acronyms mean nothing to me)

    3) anyone know where the best place to get RAM in the Vancouver, B.C. area?

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help

Can help with number 2 only.

Haven't tried those games so not sure about requirements, although 1GB is considered good enough for gaming.

And I am not in canada :)

ok so the rams you need (specs) should be "SO-DIMM 200-PIN DDR2 533MHz (PC4200)"

The usual recommended brands for quality and compatibility are crucial, kingston, corsair.

Good luck with your upgrade :)

It is usually better to buy online pricewise.

    I got 2 x 1024 MB PC-4300 DDR2 RAM by Kingmax.

Not sure about BF2 - but HL2 runs pretty nice.

    *Edit*
Before I got the 2nd stick, I had 1.5 GB and HL2 ran fine then also.

    As for #3
Check out NCIX.com. They are based in Vancouver, BC and if you click on the sale image it will link you to the current items on sale. They may have the RAM you're looking for (haven't checked though)
