The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Help with xxclone

    Trying to see if my old 320GB HDD will work again, and I'm trying to use this program XXclone but I seem to be running into two problems.
    1.) NTLDR is missing and NTDETECT.exe is missing (something like that)
    2.) The backup won't finish and is stuck on "Checking the diskette" to try and make the target drive bootable.

    On the source hard drive is Windows 7 RC if that helps...

    The product page mentions support up to XP - so it might be that it is the problem?

    That would make a lot of sense, didn't realize the article I read about cloning a HDD was so old...
