i hv just bought a new asus f9s some days ago.. and my friends told me tomorrow that a new laptop had to be charged for 8 hours for the first time before using. and i really dont know about that. so, i don't charge my laptop for 8 hours. is that matter??

Tell me the way to make laptop battery stay for longer time. i always use my laptop plugged in with the battery inside. will it reduce my battery performance? should i take off the battery from the laptop before plug it in??

And one more problem, three days ago, i noticed that inside my battery there is 98% power available but the laptop is plugged in and not charging. yesterday with the same condition, there are 97% power available. And today, it reduce again to 96%... i don't know why this happen. and i have no idea. does anybody know why?? i am just afraid that the battery power will reduce one by one percent until it is empty.. Help me please. thx.

Your friends do not not know what they are talking about. Ignore them!

You really need to read the Battery Guide on this site.

On a note do not look at the final charge level. There is a circuit that both protects undercharging and overcharging.

I am tired maybe tomorrow if my friends have not told you more than you ever wanted to know I will chime back in?

no, it is not a problem.
The battery will only charge when their is a potential gradient in voltage across the terminals of the battery and the charging circuit of the system.
To keep the battery from overcharging, the battery will only charge when their is a gradient.
The reason you are not seeing 100%, is cause the battery percentage of charge needs to drop enough for the gradient to appear. Usually this gradient starts at 95%.
