This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Hey guys, I have about 200 dollars to spend on a sound card and I was wondering what you guys would recommend. Supposedly, I want enough money left over to buy a decent speaker system go along with it. I'm a gamer and want that surround sound effect, =)

    for your notebook... look towards:
    - X-fi mobile (uses ExpressSlot54)

    Or get an external card... from a pro-audio company like M-Audio.
