thats the mobo of my old computer - if you notice there is a fan on the left portion of the board near where is says MSI... The fan on my MOBO is broken (ie it doesnt spin anymore)

do you guys know what this fan is called so I can try to find a new one to buy from Newegg or something?

    Thanks!!!

I've heard that most laptop fans are built specifically for the laptop. You should contact the manufacturer of the laptop. Also, it helps to post what your problem is in the title.

I was not confused. 4 RAM slots a very good hint many others also. First can you disconnect the wires from fan then apply voltage to confirm it is in fact a bad fan and not a failure of the board to supply current? Does the fan not have numbers or names that could help you identify? I think it should be very straight forward and easy to do/get. I will Google and see if I can find anything.

Edit: Really you should be able to disconnect and take to a parts store and get equivalent.

Even if you can't find an exact replacement, if you measure the distances between the bolts and check the bolt sizes you can probably buy a generic fan which will be probably cheaper. Make sure you have a few days to return it though, in case something goes wrong ;)

I think that's a 30mm fan, search for that on newegg or something.

If you want a fan which will outlive you, get an EBM Papst. These fans are guaranteed to run for 1-1.5million hours depending on the model. They are covered by a lifetime warranty, so you will be getting a really durable fan.
Just measure the fan, it looks like a 25-40mm fan.
Make sure you get the correct voltage fan. The common voltages are 5 volts and 12volts.
You should be able to pick up a generic brand fan for less than $5. or you can get a high quality ebm papst for about $30-40.

Before you go buy a new fan, push down slightly on the center of the fan. Sometimes the bearings on these cheap fans come dislodged from the channel they should be revolving in, which could prevent the fan from turning.
If the fan still fails, flip the fan over, and read the voltage of the fan, just buy a replacement fan with the same voltage and dimensions, and you will be fine.
