Ok so I got this laptop as a gift a bit ago. It's an Acer 6930.

Problem is that it has an on board POS Intel video card of sorts, worst for gaming of any type. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about upgrading this to the optimal 9600M GT Nivida card or something like that???

    Thank you for any help..

Also what other upgrades could I look forward to purchasing for this computer???

There are some of us who love our Intel GPUs because they don't drain the battery quickly or produce lots of heat and make the fan work hard or, even worse, just die.

But, if you want to upgrade your GPU, read here.

The Intel IGP will do ok with older games. But do not expect decent performance with most 2008 games.

Just try to avoid most heavy EA pc games, they can be pretty unstable and variably demanding on the computer's performance. Besides a laptop is usually not good for gaming unless you have an Alienware built for gaming..

BTW I don't think you can upgrade since you have integrated graphic chip so the best you can do is to increase the RAM or the CPU or the HDD regarding gaming improvement.

    Haha yes... an Alienware...
There are a nice few gaming notebooks out there, not just Alienware.

As others have said (and Dreamer's thread that was linked above explains in more details) you can't upgrade your GPU.
