I recently took the dvd drive out of my old laptop.
I am attaching the pic of it's port that attaches to motherboard.
Can someone pls. tell me what type of port it is.
I am looking for a USB to this port connector so I can use this dvd drive as external drive.

That's an IDE connection for optical drives.

Adunno if that is what you are looking for, but I have no idea if those kind of adapter cables work. Why not just grab a USB external DVD drive, you can find them in the 30 dollar range.. -
I didn't know they were so cheap. Will start looking for one.
First I need to get an HDD IDE caddy for use my extra hdd with my laptop.

IDE to either sata or usb. used a couple over the years and they work fine connecting desktop drive to laptop
