I've had my p-6831fx since the end of February and besides a faulty stick of ram it has run flawlessly. When I first got it I monitored the GPU temps in every situation I could think of and it was always cool. But lately after playing for awhile I noticed some stuttering and decided to install HWmonitor to log max and min temps for all my components. I have noticed that the CPU runs at 60c idle and hits 90c while gaming which I know is very high and at the threshold of causing problems.

I plan on replacing the CPU at the end of August when I start getting paid at my new job but I wanted some advice on whether I should fix this problem until I do replace it?

I know that messing with the CPU will void my warranty and as it stands right now I don't want to send it in for a factory repair either so I'm unsure if I should just ignore it or do I run the risk of burning something up for good?

You can cut down extra background services....and check out the NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks....

Try cleaning up the air vents with canned air and apply AS-5 if you replace the CPU....And also see if there is a BIOS upgrade that addresses this issue..!!

Keep and eye on the CPU usage in Task manager and try running the notebook in safe mode or diagnostic mode for an hour or so, and see if the idle temps drop....

Max temps are fine under 95*C but your idle temps are a bit high....

Also check out the Undervolting Guide and the Cooling Central....
