Hi everyone,
I have been looking around the internet but maybe my keywords are just bad. I am looking to go past the 10.55CFM fan that I currently have in my Alienware 17 R1 "Ranger". Seems the best bet is going to be moving up from 5v to 12v and I am willing to power them externally with a fan controller that is fitted to the CoolerMaster U3.
So my question to you guys is exactly that, what laptop has the highest CFM rating? I have about 15mm-17mm in height to work with, otherwise I will shave down the rest to conform as I get further along.
Not too concerned with noise, I use headphones while I game and when I dont I can just turn down the fan with the controller.
I was originally thinking of getting the fox 2 pci blower, but I believe its voltage regulated and not PWM so basically its on or its off for the most part as voltage control is a bit more finnicky if what I have read thus far is to hold merit.
Thanks everyone, really want to hit 4.5Ghz on my Ranger and willing to go to extremes to get there.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but i used 3 fans to mod my CoolerMaster Notepal u3 Plus here:

It has a PWM regulator and fans too. Hope it helps -
Like you I have a Coolermaster U3 but w/ Gentle Typhoon 2150rpm fansjoluke likes this. -

I know its likely no where near one of the highest CFM fans, but the 8740W-Zbook 17 G2's fans are really high powered, I'd give one of those a shot

I ordered some ADDA fans that were used to mod the Tornado F5.
Ill have to put the wires to a regular 4 pin header and connect to my fan controller.Last edited: Jun 15, 2019joluke likes this. -
