I would prefer something higher than 320gb (for video editing reasons). Thanks!

You can get any laptop hard drive that is SATAI or SATAII (also called SATA150, SATA300 or SATA1.5, SATA3.0). 500GB is the current max for laptop drives.

For the M1530, the hard drive has to be 2.5'' wide and 9.5'' in height, NOT 12.5''.

500GB is currently the max, and drives like the Samsung Spinpoint 500GB as well as other 500GB drives out in them market are 5400RPM.

In Q4 2008 however, Seagate is rolling out their 7200.4 which will be the first 500GB 7200RPM drive.

Have any links to share? It's hard for me to find them. I found the spinpoint m series. Any others that are cheaper?

You want to go for the 500GB as your main system disk?

Not a good idea in my opinion. Review.

Go for a Seagate 7200.3 320GB instead. Very high transferrates and low access times.

I guess 320gb is the best laptops can do when weighing in reliable hard drives.

Getting an ssd isn't a bad idea, considering the price/performance ratio of the new ocz core series, as well as the soon to be released intel ssds. 500GB hard drives are a big no-no, at the moment. If you look at the review provided by philflow, you'll see that the 5k500 is too thick for most laptops, and the other one has extremely poor access times. Wait for an ssd, or go for a 7200.3

While SSD performs good for videoediting, he asked for a drive of 320GB or bigger. I guess that puts SSD out of the question, in this case.

I do agree OCZ Core may be very interesting. I'd love to see some reviews!

Sorry I misread this sentence in the article:
    Still looks very promising tho.
