Been searching around for this drive to research prices and still nothing?

Has anybody had better luck? It seems not to be on the market yet?

I don't think Hitachi 5k1500 is already out but you can go and ask on the website where I bought my Hitachi Deskstar 4TB last year. I think they always update their inventory. They are a bit pricey though.

@DackEW, I'm also looking for that 7mm WD HDD but I can't find anything over the internet. Going directly to physical shots might help.

The 1TB WD 7mm drive reviewed here and it claims it is already available. But where?

    WD Blue

Near the top right hand corner "where to buy"

Change the height to "7 mm"

Then a list of sellers will show up, the only one I recognize is Insight

hhhmm only 90 bucks and it's slim, may pick one up for my ps3, or maybe a 500gb version. the 7mm thickness would help get more air moving through the drive cage for sure.

Interesting about the 1TB 7mm drive however all three 5mm, 7mm and 9.5mm drives should equally be available by now as they clearly share the same design and specifications (Hitachi HDD owned by WD).

I hope perhaps the delay will allow for a greater density at 650GB per platter to be incorporated so we can choose finally a 2TB drive!

guys guys guys, please, he's asking about HGST's 1.5tb behemoth, not about a 7mm HD, or where to get it, etc..talk about thread hijacking!
But yea, I'm also looking for this drive, so far haven't found any sellers, only a couple of articles discussing it's release date as June, but here we are in July and nothing yet...the sad thing also is that I read in an article that they won't be introducing a 7200 rpm drive like they did with its younger brother, the 1tb one, 5k1000 was 5400 and 7k1000 was 7200, which kind of sucks. However, most people's laptops, or the newer ones at least, come with bays for traditional 9mm drives, and a mSATA SSD slot. They'll install the OS on the traditional drive and use the SSD in the mSATA as cache to speed up files the OS uses more frequently. What I did to mine that came that way, the Inpsiron 17R SE 7720 3D laptop, was take out the 32gb mSATA drive it came with and swapped in a Plextor M5M 128GB, installed OS on that one, and left me with bay 1 and bay 2 for traditional hard drives. Thats where these guys can come into play, 3TBs of pure storage on a lappy! talk about winning!
