    Hey all,

I've decided to buy a new HDD for my laptop, and I've decided to buy Hitachi 7K200 100GB, because it's the fastest on the market, and 100GB is enough for me.

But just yesterday I've noticed, that there's a 120GB version of 7K200, only slightly more expensive than 100GB version. My concern is - is it as fast as the 100GB/200GB versions?

100GB has 1 disk and 2 heads, 200GB has 2 disks and 4 heads, and both have areal density of 164Gbit/sq.inch so their performace is exactly the same. What about 120GB version, with 2 disks and 3 heads and areal density of 132Gbit/sq.inch?

I've searched the Internet, including this forum, and I haven't found a single test, user opinion, or HD Tune/HD Tach screen... So I can't decide between these two. I don't need additional 20GB that much, I'm rather looking for ultimate performance.

In that case... the 100GB looks to be better then :)

I won't buy 120GB version without seeing any HD Tach or HD Tune screen, that's for sure... But there is almost no price difference between them - about 4$ :) So I'd regret buying 100GB, if 120GB is as fast.
