Great deal. It costs twice as much in Europe.
I'm still very happy with mine. It's surprising how easy it is to fill 500GB. I have 130GB left.

I am going to pick up one tomorrow at that price. I really don't need it but it but for $64 it will be interesting how it performs against the WD blue 500GB that I currently have in my laptop. I have a couple of spare external USB enclosures so it won't go to waste even if it doesn't end up in the laptop permanantly.

out of stock now.

Edit: 3/28/10 - 3 stores sold out. I am glad I picked one up yesterday, that $63.99 price was to good to pass up. Sorry for the long edit but I couldn 't pass up my satisfaction with the Hitachi without including some basic info. I needed some instant gratification
Not very scientific but wanted to get a feel for how my previous WD Blue 500GB 5400rpm HD compared with the Hitachi on the same laptop (in my sig) immediately after a clone of the WD to Hitachi HD.
I set up three tasks before the clone. Ran them on the WD then left only the base files and deleted the extractions and copies. Cloned the WD drive to the Hitachi (Acronis TI Home 2009 retail version) and ran the exact tasks on the Hitachi after installing it into the same laptop.
1. Copy Windows 7 ISO's and Adobe CS4 MC from one folder to another. 12.5GB
2. Extract Adobe CS4 MC ISO with 7-Zip within folder 8.3GB
3. Copy extracted Adobe CS4 files from one folder to another 8.07GB
WD Blue 500GB 5400RPM
1. 9 min 26 sec
2. 16 min 14 sec
3. 17 min 48 sec
Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 500GB 7200RPM
1. 6 min 43 sec
2. 7 min 41 sec
3, 12 min 5 sec
Opening all programs such as Word, Excel, Adobe PS, etc. were much snappier. No attempt to time them, but very noticeable. I am quite pleased. Minor differences in boot times (5 seconds at most) nothing to speak about.
The Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 7200rpm is very quiet. I can’t hear it unless I put my ear near the palm rest. The Hitachi does make one distinct sound when it shuts off with the laptop. I am sure it is the heads parking, kind of a chirp, click. Not present with the WD. -
Nice! I never saw that. -

really want to buy it -
would be nice if they included momentus XT so we can compare more but this is quite good. I'm getting a 7K500 when i go to india... or a scorpio black...depending on which one i can find..

I just got one of these. Man, this thing is fast and pretty much silent. A lot quieter than my previous 320GB 5400RPM HDD.
