    Just FYI, it is set to balanced by default (or I think it was slightly to the max performance side)

    Looks like per QuietHDD on ac it is high performance 254 but on battery 128. This drive cranks though, look at the peak speeds below

    Could anyone comment regarding how noisy the drive is compared to a few other well known drives like the 5000BEVT or 3200BEKT.

    I replaced the Scorpio Blue (BEVT) with the Hitachi 7K500.

    Different 'sounding', but both very quiet. I think after a while of using the Hitachi, it is even a little quieter, but I could just be getting used to it and tuning out its sound signature. :)

    Note: This is inside an 18.4" VAIO.
