These 2 hard drives are best ones that i could find but i am stuck into deciding which one i should buy. I will be using this HD as an external drive.

Hitachi makes much more relaible harddrives than fujitsu does.

    The question is:
Why get a 7200rpm drive for an external, since its speed will be bottlenecked from a usb/firewire port.
If your external uses esata than nevermind.
Please realize that a 250gb 5400rpm drive will have the same performance as the 160gb 7200rpm drive, while staying more power efficient, and maybe save you money.

I will be using esata so the speed won't be bottlenecked.

The case i am getting only supports up to 160gb at 7.2k or 200gb at 5.4k

The 160gb 7200rpm drive will be similar in speed to a 250gb 5400rpm drive. Both can average about 43mb/sec.
The 200gb 5400rpm drive is most likely from the generation of drives before, so speed will probably be about 30-35mb/sec.
The fastest mobile external drive you can get, is either the 200gb 7200rpm drive or a 320gb 5400rpm drive, both of which can maintain 52mb/sec.

Actually you can now get the 320gb 7200 rpm and it had an average read of 60 or so.

The 200GB 7K200 is faster than the 160GB as far as I know.
Why do you still want to buy the 160GB?

The 320GB 7K320 and Black Scorpios will be even faster, but they will be a lot more expensive I reckon.

I don't believe there is a limit to it, other than the limits of 2.5-inch SATA HDD 2,5inch drives.

I think their specs are out of date.

I believe you can get up to 320GB 7200rpm.
And I believe Samsung 500GB 5400rpm will be available soon or is it already?
