i read that site and obviously overal performance the momentus 7200 beats the hitachi an can be had for about 10-15 dollars cheaper than the hitachi can anyone confirm this though?

I'm not sure either will display a noticeable difference in speed while using your computer. Go with the cheaper one as either manufacture (Seagate, Hitachi) are good manufactures for notebook drives. Seagate's have a longer warranty as well (5 year vs 3 year), so that may factor into your purchase.

The Hitach is a faster drive by a small margin, but the Seagate runs a bit quieter.
