    Hm370 chipset max ram speed

    I just bought an MSI GE75 with an 8750h on the hm370 chipset, will it handle 3000mhz?

    difficult to say. there are several factors impacting max. attainable RAM speed:

    - RAM modules (be sure to have 3000+ Mhz certified sticks at hand and know your way around timing tuning / stress & stability testing)
    - CPU IMC (every one is different, but late CPU gens shouldnt have trouble reaching 3000+)
    - Motherboard quality (impacts signal to noise ratio and thus attainable stability at given speeds)

    the first two you can influence by adjusting VDIMM voltage, timings (RAM sticks), or VCCIO and VCCSA voltages (CPU IMC), but the motherboard u cannot influence in any way. However, in order to limit the mobo impact, you can do the following: if your machine sports four RAM sockets, only use two of them and choose the ones physically closest to the CPU socket. the less RAM sticks ure dealing with and the closer they are to the CPU, the higher the chance of attaining high RAM speeds.

    atleast i was able to overclock my ddr4 2666mhz sticks to 3200mhz.
    everyday i use 3000mhz cl 16-17-17 1.25v (asus rog strix with unlocked bios)

    i'm curios.. those 3800mhz so-dimm sticks from G.skill, could they work?

    sure they will work, question is at what speed :) so far ive only been able to push them to 3400 Mhz on my system, and there are a total of TWO users out there having been able to push RAM to higher clocks than this (3600 and 3700 mhz, respectively). at around 3000/3200 mhz and up things start to get very tricky when it comes to RAM OC in laptops...

    what kinda latencies could you expect... lets say with 3200mhz clocks with those 3800mhz G.Skill sticks (my laptop is able to 3200mhz, after that it's only black screen (atleast with my ddr4 sticks..)

    3800Mhz sticks should be able to run 3200 at much tighter timings.

    your guess is as good as anybody's.... its sooo heavily dependent on the various subtimings / their relations to each other / VDIMM voltage and mobo traces.... its just all voodoo in the end, RAM tuning that is :p

    There are so many different answers to that question that I don't even know where to begin :)
    But as @jaybee83 mentioned, you have to test what your kit will do. Silicon lottery also applies to ram. However, B-Die kits scale well with voltage and will do tight timings (for a laptop)

    Here's a CL 12-12-12-28 at 3200Mhz in a Clevo P870TM1.
