its a
Sony BC-5600S SATA Blu-Ray Player Drive 8XDVD±RW?
Will it work on my specs?

I have been googling and all I find is old threads relating to laptops.
From what I can see I will be able to use software rendering on my laptop. -
anyone?
Im going to bed now and I will need to set my sniper to win it.
But will I be wasting my money? -
well,
I didn't buy it. No one would help me
I went to bed and left it. I decided I needed to investigate thouroughly before buying.
Firstly the connector on my laptop is IDE interface so I would have been screwed. The DVD drive is SATA.
But I managed to find a later connector for the MOBO to convert my connector to SATA
P/N 6046B0003302-SATA-A01
My question is still.
WILL MY GPU HANDLE THE BLU RAY DVD'S? Can I watch them in software rendering?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, I am begging for someone to help me.

You will have to use a dedicated Bluray Player software to play the video which will likely use a less efficient decoder.
If it helps, your CPU is pretty much the T7200 recommended here. -
Thanks so much for replying.
That connector is a direct replacement for the IDE connector inside the toshiba laptops.
I have a picture of the standard Toshiba IDE connector here.

+1
For you

Wait a tick. It looks like the connector that goes to the motherboard is different. The connector in the IDE motherboard has a lot more pins.
-
ahh crap.
well spotted, I only actually looked the physical fitment. Thats the same. -
My R60 had a T7400 and blu-ray drive, and it could play 1080p video just fine, but Blu-ray playback sucked because the CPU always ran at 95-100% during playback. It had issues with choppiness and stuttering during playback. I suspect the T7300 and X3100 will be the same.

Aww man.
So would you recommend not buying one?
Would outputting it to TV make a difference? Basically it looks (looked) a fairly cheap portable way to have a blu ray player.
Hmm, 6 hours before auction end. Should I buy it? Will it work?
