My computer heats up very quickly. Until I can get a proper laptop cooler, I need something that can keep my laptop cool. Right now I put my laptop on top of a book, and I turned on a blow dryer under it so that the hot air blows away.....but I'm not sure if that's working. Anyone have any ideas? Preferably with materials that can be found lying around the house.

it is involved a bit of bending metal rodsand also you need some electric tape, coffee jar lid, a fan and usb cord.
Depends on the type of your notebook as well.

My first one was out of a cabinet drawer, turned upside down. Cut off some board to make holes for ventilation.

My graphics card temperatures hit 98 degrees centigrade and were rising while I was playing assassins creed. My computer is a gateway P-7915u with a GTX 260m. I'm not sure what the usual temperatures are for the graphics card. I'm just a bit worried because it makes any surface that it is on extremely hot, and the fan had started to make weird noises lately. The weird noises have only happened once or twice, but I'm worried that my computer might be getting too hot for the fans to handle it.

    Win ;O

That and repaste if you haven't done so. And while regular use just pop the back of the laptop up with two bottled water lid, your book might be blocking the air intake on the bottom and make it worse.
