Hey. Recently did a bit of fixing with my Clevo M860TU. Got my CPU and GPU real cool during gaming and such which is great.
My problem is that my HDD gets kind of hot, both during idle and under stress. Also my chipset/motherboard does not have any thermal padding only thermal compound and I'm not sure I can reach the heatsink (not sure if that's the name) since it's a small gap.
Heres some measurements in HWMonitor. To the left is decently idle, just surfing and perhaps some uTorrent, music etc.
To the right is right after a 2 hour session of D3 beta.
I'm pretty sure none of these are crucial, but as I said I am a slight bit concerned about MB and HDD temp. I'm probably gonna get some thermal padding to put in between my MB chipset (is that correct?) and the heatsink (is that correct, lol).
Is there anything I can do for the HDD ? I've cleaned all dust and such. Probably gonna try to undervolt the computer some but I'm not sure that affects the HDD. Thanks alot for any help! /Cyrox

The HDD temps are worrisome, the rest is fine. 60C for a HDD is definitely not good for it.

You have a problem with the HDD. Seagate lists the maximum operating temperature as 60C. http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/disc/manuals/notebook/momentus/7200.4/100534376c.pdf
It's only 2C over but even so, that is pretty toasty for an HDD. Perhaps an SSD is in your future? Otherwise perhaps a notebook cooler?
Other temps look OK.... -
Yeah getting a cooler this week. Also disabled indexing on my Win7.
Also gonna remove the HDD and look for something. I think it's weird it's getting so hot all of a sudden.
Thanks for the replys you guys. -

If the bearing is starting to go on the spindle, it will cause the temp to rise due to friction. Is it making noise?
-
Not really making any excessive noise. It might be missing some screws, but I doubt that it would make any big difference ?
Hot motherboard and/or HDD.
