How? Simpletech RAM now STEC, Inc Warranty RMA replacement claim

I have 2 x 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMMs that have lifetime warranty on them as per my documentation. But SimpleTech seems to be acquired by Hitachi GST and hence their Support website goes to Hitachi site.

After a bunch of browsing & searching through, I cant find any trace of how to file/ request a RAM replacement / claim with them.

As per Wikipedia the DRAM part of business became STEC, Inc.

The SSD Company - STEC, Inc. - Solid State Drive Solutions

Cant find, how/ where to RMA / ask for warranty.

    Any thoughts/ suggestions?

    ALSO:

    I want to acquire 2 x 4G DDR2 SODIMMs. The RAM pairs (1st Original Pair 2x 2G, 2nd New Pair 2 x 4G) would go into my T61 & X61T.

Which BRAND & where would be the best place to buy? In terms of Price & Long term reliability & Warranty?

Best place to buy is probably Newegg. As for brands? It really doesn't matter, RAM is basically a commodity now. Newegg is usually running deals on G.Skill sticks (got some a month or two ago, 2x4GB for 35 bucks).

Brands actually do matter when it comes to warranty and support. I prefer G.Skill for this reason. I've said it before, and I will continue to repeat it. G.Skill truly stands behind their products. I had an old stick of DDR2 desktop RAM from them that went bad a while back. This stuff was 3-4 years old. They replaced it, no questions asked. The fact that G.Skill is among the cheapest brands (especially when factoring in Newegg sales and/or coupon codes) is the proverbial icing on the cake.

I guess, you're literally the first person I've heard of in the past 10 years with a bad stick of RAM, though.

I like G.Skill, but I've also had Corsair, Crucial, OCZ, and PNY and they've all been fine.

Ok with some web searching & reading on Wiki, the DRAM part of the business is now run under the name STEC, Inc.

Can anyone help me find a warranty claim / RMA email or contact for them?

    crashnburn,

With a possible $35 price for 8GB RAM (retail) or lower, I would be inclined to forget about any warranty claim for these parts.

My time is worth much more than that trying to find who/what/where to send/request a replacement - especially as they seem to be bought out - just as Hitachi has been too now.

    Just another point of view...

    Good luck.

    FYI this is DDR2, NOT DDR3. 8gb of ddr2 is still $texas...

Thanks for help. And sorry, but further searching has put this to STEC, Inc and not Hitachi.

But problem of how to contact them remains.
