Hi: I plan on buying a notebook (Vaio Z) and get get it in two variety options,

    Option 1) -Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 2.53Ghz
    -320GB 5400rpm Hard Drive

    Option 2) -Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53Ghz
    -320GB 7200rpm Hard Drive

Which option should I choose, and how big a difference is there between the two options.

    thanks

I think the P9xxx uses less power than the P8xxx and has more cache which improves performance, correct me if im wrong.

Option 2 is going to be a better buy.
The higher rpm harddrive will make more of a performance difference than the small difference in cache between the two equal clocked cpu's

Agreed with K-TRON. CPU cache difference translates into almost negligible performance difference compared to the HD RPM difference. How much is the difference btw option 1 and 2, that might be another determining factor. I'd wager option 1 is the costlier of the configurations, since CPU upgrades are usually more expensive than HD upgrades (even though there is a less of an impact on performance). If so I'd definitely choose option 2.
