The only way I know of is look for the device ID in the device manager and then google the number.

Are there any better ways? tools?

Phil you could try using Everest or PC Wizard. PC wizard tells my that I have a Samsung monitor in words but doesn't give me a serial number lol...it works for most people though.

I remember PC Wizard 2008 gave me info regarding the LCD Manufacturer in Video > Monitor type.

Probably Everest Ultimate may also give some info regarding this.

    EDIT: NVM :p

i love my samsung panels they are great :D

    for both laptops and desktops

    Phil,
the only way to know is to dismantle your laptop lid and get to the back of the LCD. Their you will find all of the model numbers and stuff you are looking for.

It was the C87 panel in the Macbook. Turned out to be LG/Philips LP133WX2-TLC1. Quite bright but the contrast was annoying me.

Measurement done by Notebookjournal confirmed what I was seeing.
    durchschnittl. Luminanz cd/m² 245
    Schwarzwert bei 100 cd/m2 cd/m² 0.69
Schwarzwert bei maximaler Helligkeit cd/m² 1.64
    Kontrast bei 100 cd/m2 :1 145
Kontrast bei maximaler Helligkeit :1 147

    I'm glad I returned it.

Nope, PC Wizard 2008 gave me all the info.
