I was in the market looking for reliable Windows tablet because I've had enough of Android. I don't like how Android closes running apps to make room for new ones. I can't even have 3 active tabs on Chrome no matter how high-end the specs are, at certain point the homescreen also frequently need to be reloaded and it's freaking annoying.

Then I read this article: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Notebookcheck-s-Top-10-Windows-Tablets.128372.0.html. It wows me seeing that some Windows tablets have 1GB of RAM. For the sake of comparison, I recently installed 32-bit Windows 8.1 in my friend's very old laptop with 1.5GB RAM (it was 512MB when he bought it). The RAM was like 50-60% occupied on bootup. 60-70% after I installed Avast. So based on my calculation, the Windows alone takes 800-900MB of RAM. With this in mind, I'm really concerned about performance issue in those tablets. What do you guys think?

Stay away from anything with less than 4GB of RAM.

They're using that small bit of ram much more efficiently with a sparse OS, working similar to a smartphone. I'd say 1GB is definitely on the low end. I wouldn't buy anything in a tablet with less than 2gb, Windows or Android.
