My laptop is an Asus X540L. The network card is a Qualcomm Atheros AR956x and it only can connect with 2.4Ghz. I want to upgrade my card so I can use 5GHz.

A) I noticed my laptop has only 1 wire connecting to the network card. Other laptops have 2 wires. Does that matter when getting a new card?
B) Would something like these work with my laptop?

Intel 6250 card will work but you need to install additional antenna to fully utilise that card. Otherwise your wifi range and data speed will be reduce by almost 50%. You can get internal laptop wifi antenna from ebay and fix it your self.
