On the bottom of the notebook, under one of the panels, lies the RAM. Consult your owner's manual to see what panel it is under.

Once you find the correct panel, take out the screws and remove the door. You'll see the RAM sticks in there. On the side of the RAM modules are little brackets - pull them aside carefully, and the RAM will be released, and you can pull it out - it is flat against the motherboard when in place properly (held down by the brackets), and when you remove the brackets, it comes up to about a 45 degree angle, and will be ready for removal. Pull it out straight - never on an angle - might have to give it a little jiggle.

Once you have the RAM module out, slide the new ones in the same way you took out the old ones. DO NOT FORCE IT. It only goes in one way.

Push the module down until it snaps back in place - make sure the brackets are holding it down.

Put the cover back on, screw the screws back in, and there you have it!

Thanks for the info.. but i only see one panel, opened that up and its the HD. The entire back of the Toshiba M3 seems to be one piece, battery pack on the back end. Thought it was going to be simple but i guess not.

Perhaps it is under the keyboard. I would strongly suggest finding out where the RAM is before you start disassembling it. Apparantly your laptop is different than most. Check on your manufacturer's website and see if they have service manuals avaliable for download.

It is not uncommon for the second memory slot to be under the kyeboard. Check the documentation that came with it. You might find something there.
