Ok, I'm really new to notebooks.
So, I have a really old PC, and a new laptop. How can I move files from my desktop HDD to notebook? I guess, I can't use desktop hardware in notebook and vice versa.
    So how?

So many ways. You can buy an enclosure for the desktop HDD and use it as an external drive on laptop and transfer files. If documents could use a memory stick. Can buy software and a cable. Can burn to Cd and transfer. I you want to transfer everthing (files and OS) software and cable. What do you want to transfer?

    1) If the computers are networked via a router you could transfer them by setting up File Sharing.

    2) You could purchase an external hard drive and copy files from your old computer to the drive and then to the laptop.

    3) Buy an external enclosure and encase your hard drive into that, then plug it in to your laptop. You then just copy the files.

You can also get a USB data transfer and connect the 2 computers together to do the job
