How do you erase those fingerprints in the glossy screen? I'm afraid to use alcohol, but water doesn't do it easily. How do you do it?

I turn the screen off / laptop off - give it a light windex spray and wipe with a soft cloth-
-
I use a microfiber screen-cleaning cloth. It costs about $5.

You get get bottles filled with this liquid (i don't know what it is), but they do a great job of cleaning the screen. I'm sure you can find them, the bottle I bought has "Screen Cleaner" prominently written over it. Also those microfibers jetstar talked about works great

Where would you find the Screen Cleaner and the microfiber cloth? Would a place like Wal-mart have them?
-
All the big electronics stores such as CircuitCity, Bestbuy, CompUSA, etc, stock computer/notebook cleaning supplies and kits.
I think that Walmart has them as well, but I am not too sure. -
I use lens cleaners for glasses. They are widely available in supermarkets and opticians and are cheap.
-
What about matte (or non-glossy) screens?

I use a piece of kitchen towel dampened with water on my matte screen, works well.

I push my screen all the way back and wipe it down with a moist paper towel and then dry it with a dry paper towel.

Don't use anything rough such as paper towels on glossy screens, and don't use any window cleaners either - not good. I use a microfiber cloth and some water to clean both my matte and glossy screens.
-
I use amonia free Windex with a soft cloth and it works fine for crt, lcds, plasmas glossy, screens - never had a issue before -
-
I dip my screen in sinkful soapy water and it always comes out really shiny.

I use a good microfiber and some good LCD screen cleaner. I have found OptimistPrime to be the best. It and the microfibers I use are available at www.shaggymac.com. It might be a little pricey, but its worth it.
-
I use screen wipes from Aldi - cheapo stuff lol.
They do a great job though, and don't smear it or anything.
About £5 for 100 cloths or something. -

micro fiber cloth.....or if it absolutely really needs it, a damp cloth followed by the micro fiber.

I tried using this glasses cleaner stuff, and tried alcohol + water. In both cases, it left smears all over the screen.
So, I use this Windexish stuff that doesn't have any amonia. It doesn't leave smears, and seems to not damage the display. -

I use the side of my finger to collect the dust - for some reason my room attracts dust - to the top left corner and the blow it away. To get rid of fingerprint i use a microfiber cloth, but it gets dirty fairly quickly and i can't be bothered cleaning it, so my screen is fairly dirty most of the time. like me glasses.

Hard to avoid sometimes. I use Mr Clean wipes to remove grease, and often a wet damp microfibre towel to remove the streaks. Works like a charm.

Paper towels and tissues are made from wood, and will scratch your screen.
For a good article on how to make your own screen cleaner and the best way to clean you screen go to http://www.powernotebooks.com/articles/index.php?action=fullnews&id=32 -
I used to use paper towels until I realized they suck for the job. Now I use eye glass cleaner and the silk handkerchief that came with it. Works great.

My screen never gets dirty, i even checked it under the microscope!!! Can somebody tell me why???

Easy, either you don't have one or you live in a bubble.
-
Dust? Hah, can't touch this screen.
How do you clean your screen?
