Since the T7100 (1.8GHz 2mb cache) will be replaced by the T7250 (2GHz 2mb Cache) and the T7300 (2GHz 4mb cache) will be replaced by the T7500 (2.2GHz 4mb Cache) at the same prices, how do you feel knowing that your new computers T7100 or T7300 will be replaced by better processors for the same price?

That's just the way computers go. Components age really fast and the best components at a given time gets cheaper even faster. I try not to think about it too much.

i don't know why you bring this up. Of course it's annoying but it's barely a gain in performance. This happens with all of intel's c2d processors for desktops and notebooks.

There's no architectural change and the speed bump isn't too big - if you need something now, buy it now. If you can wait until September, well, you'll get a free 200MHz.

There is always something better on the horizon. If you keep waiting hopeing for a mythical perfect time...you'll do without a computer until the end of time. Buy it when you need it with what you need in it at a price you can afford. Thats about it.

That's like asking how the people who have T7200s feel about the T7300s. It's just the nature of technology.

Umm, that's how computers go. I spent over $2000 on a computer in '96 and it came with a Pentium I 166MHz and 16mb of ram.

Right now you can get a 2.4GHz 4gb of ram for the same price? Am I gonna kill myself because of it? And in 5 years, you'll be able to get a 4GHz 8 core cpu and 16gb of ram for 2000 bux? Should we not buy computers because of that?

I once paid $300 for a 300mb hard drive (mb not gb) I remember being excited that prices had finally fallen to $1 per meg.

When does this take effect? I'm planning on buying a new notebook in mid/late August, assuming that they will be on a back-to-school sale. will someone shed light on by when will this change be visible in the market?
should i wait till september (maybe, mid/late sept.) then? Will I be losing out on those sales? :(

I think I heard July 22 somewhere, and there's suppose to be another price cut after that as well.

But thats only for desktop processors. There isn't expected to be a price cut for laptop processors, until the release of quad-core notebooks, sometime in late '08 .. anyone wants to confirm that?
