    Greetings...

I have a 17.2" screen on my voodoo laptop, and I just noticed that there is a 1.25" long scratch in the top right corner of the screen. It is not a deep scratch, so it is barely noticiable. You can feel the cut with your finger though.

Is there a way to fix this surface scratch, or do I have to send my screen back to voodoo?

No, i dont thnk there is any possible way to fix your screen. You'd have to put a new screen on, which is what VooDoo will do.

you leave it there so as to remember not to make the same mistake twice :D

but yes, there is no way to "fix" it. you will need it replaced.

is it true there were only 6 u709's ever made? (i saw your post on TG Daily)

"...The pricing on the H171 is ok, as mine cost a tad over $7100.00

Voodoo makes the best laptops out of any PC Manufacturer, they function as good as they look. I'm glad I own a Voodoo, Having 1 of 6 U709's makes me smile.

Yeah there are only a handful of the beasts made. There were 6 reported on the Mutthaboards, which is the Voodoo forum when I bought my system. The U709 was a pretty popular laptop to, as supposedly Voodoo made about 15 of them. As of the last few months, three more people have shown up on the forums who have had problems with their U709's.

So there are about 9 U709 owners which frequently run through the boards. One can only assume that the other six machines either never were built due to monetary reasons, or they have not received their machine yet. Remember it takes like 90-110 days to get your laptop after its purchased.

I am so glad I bought the platinum upgrade and a three year warranty on both the machine and the screen.

Unfortunately Voodoo is a small company, so it will probably take a month and a half for a new screen. Since I am a college student, I will have to wait until christmas in order to send the screen back. Over christmas break, I will not be using my system, as I am stripping it down to be painted, so I guess things will work out to some extent.

And to the guy to tell me to burn my screen, what are you crazy. Thanks for the opinion, but no way would anyone do that to such an expensive and rare laptop.

I emailed Voodoo tech support last night, they are not opened on weekends so hopefully I get a response by Tuesday.

That is my screen protector, I had to peel it back to reveal the scratch. After doing so, I have not been able to get that part of the screen protector to lie flat on the screen.

Yeah, I talked to one of the Voodoo techy's, and they said that surface scratches are not covered by the LCD warranty.

    This is what they said:
If it is just a scratch then it is not covered under the LCD protection
warranty. It covers crack or broken LCD.

So basically in 2 years and 4 months, when I have 2 months left on my LCD warranty, I have to smash my LCD with a hammer, so that I get a new screen.

Oh well. It is not that noticeable of a scratch. Hopefully I can get a really good screenprotector, as to replace the ripped one.

Hopefully the scratch is not noticeable through the screen protector.

Well, I am keeping a screen protector on my lappy's from now on, as I hate scratches.

Does anyone know where I can get a good screen protector for a 17" - 19" laptop?
