My laptop has it but its never been used.

I originally wanted Bluetooth for use with a wireless mouse….but in the year I’ve owned this laptop I never purchased one. If and when I do, it'll probably be a USB model since I hear Bluetooth mice have a 'lag' in them. That true?

Anyway, I feel like Bluetooth can be a very usefull tool if only I knew how else it can be used.
So, how do you use Bluetooth?

I have a Razer Pro|Click mouse which is BlueTooth-equipped, and I use that when I'm travelling (my wired mouse is a Logitech mx518, which is impractical for mobile use but perfect for gaming). Sure, it decreases battery efficiency, but it increases USER efficiency. :)

    That's my logic, at least.

I had heard about BlueTooth lag as well, and in one sense it is true: when you first turn on a BlueTooth mouse, it takes a while before tracking is as smooth as a USB-wireless or wired mouse. Your cursor will jump a bit on screen - however, I usually just turn on my mouse while the computer is booting up, so most of the time I don't have to endure the 5-8 second wait of my mouse "calibrating" itself, for lack of a better word.

You pair it with your device, refer to your device manual first of all because most devices require you to put them into a pairing mode, from there open your BT control panel and its pretty self explanatory. Not sure if all computers have the same controls but basically search for the device, and then connect to it.

You should have no trouble figuring it out as long as you know your devices pairing mode.

Most devices once paired can be saved and you can skip that step in the future when you want to reconnect to it.

Ahh as per more on what I use it for like the topic asked. I use it for my headphones (plantronics pulsars) its great to have wireless freedom with headphones.

Bluejacking is a lot of fun. I have a couple contacts saved as "Virus uploading...", "I see you", "Nice ass", etc. I try to pair with other people's phones in the area and watch for their reaction.

Bluetooth mouse came with my Ferrari. I used it as my main mouse for a year and it's ok. It's kinda uncomfortable (it feels like some of the couple year old Microsoft mice, which dont suit my hand). I dont notice lag beyond the start up point and if the battery is running low. My next laptop will have Bluetooth and I will likely keep using the Ferrari mouse with it. The BT is pretty convient for mobile use, but it does not compare to my wired mouse.

Logitech G5 :) Make fun of me, I got it on sale for sub $40, it's comfortable, and I didn't have to find a mouse that was both comfortable and weighed right to me. I dont do a massive amount of gamming but it's comfy for normal work.

I have a Dell BT mouse that came with my lappy and it does indeed have a bit of a lag. When you start up the computer, it can take a few seconds to "initialize" or whatever. Also, if you are using the keyboard and don't use the mouse for a while and then go the move it, there is a slight lag. It is pretty small though, far less than a second, but I imagine some people would be really bothered by it. Personally, I do find it a little annoying, but not enough so that I would switch to another mouse.

I also thought BT was a dud until a friend gave me a bluetooth headset, I listen to music and skype with it occasionally, but my main use is for my BT mouse, I hate having usb stuff plugged into my computer waiting for someone to knock them and ruin the socket and usb dongle (yeah I'm a little anal about it).

Its handy to transfer ring tones and things to my cell phone that you other wise would have to pay for. Best yet most of the ones I use you cant buy they are custom made by myself to suite my taste. I just changed my text message sound from the "mail mutha****er" from Eurotrip move to "Falcon Punnnchh!" from super smash bros and I am working on some sound files from SNK2 to make some interesting ring tones with.
