I am interested in aquiring an Amilo 3650 with the graphics booster. The whole idea with an external graphics card makes me jiggle with joy. The only downside here would be the Turion Ultra ZM-8x CPU which from what I managed to read, it can get quite hot and is not that much of a performer in various applications when compared to intel counterparts.
What can you users tell me on the issue? I am very interested to find out whether it actually heats up as bad some people might say and how are your laptop fans dealing with this troublesome CPU, do you have silence or jet turbines in your homes?
Furthermore, I intend to use the CPU for gaming mostly, do you have an input on this issue as well? Does it handle games well?

its going to be hard to answer your question, for one reason. Every laptop model has a different cooling systems.
Now to be general, lots of people complain that the AMD processors heat up more than the Intel ones. Now you need to take that with a big grain of salt.
Almost all amd laptops are gateway, Hp, and some dells. Most of them have smaller heatsinks on the AMD platforms than on the Intel ones.
In my particular case my AMD runs much cooler than my Intel.
My AMD opteron 185 server chip draws 125 watts of power which is about 4 x what the turion ultra uses, and it peaks at 130F.
My Intel T7400 chip uses 34 watts, and has a peak around 138F.
To really be able to answer your question, you may want to look into the Fujitsu Siemens section, and see if you can find anyone with that system.
Its best to send them a personal message, so you can see first hand how it performs and how hot it gets.
(please note you need 10 or 15 posts to send a Personal message)

For example, A ZM-82 (2.2Ghz) is equivalent to Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz 2mb cache. A ZM-86 (2.4 Ghz) is equivalent to Core 2 Duo P7350 (45nm penryn) 2.0Ghz 3mb cache.
How does a Turion Ultra CPU perform?
