I am currently deciding which 13" notebook I will buy, and found some good options with a SU7300 (CULV core2duo 1.3 Ghz) processor. I have googled, trying to find some comparative benchmarks - but no luck. I am wondering how fast (or slow) this CPU is, in comparison to let's say an 1.6 Ghz Atom, an old Pentium M 1.7 Ghz, or a regular Core2Duo like the P8400 (2.26 Ghz).

Especially links to benchmarks or otherwise "hard" data would be greatly appreciated, but also own experience.

    Thanks in advance

Much faster than the Atom platform (dual core or not), effectively faster than the single core 'M' and slower than the P8400 (which I am currently typing on).

I too would like to see some 'hard data' in real world tests (not benchmarks).

any clue how much faster than a pentium M it would be? I am currently using one as mobile makeshift, and its way too slow for me.

A CULV C2D is way better than both the Atom and Pentium, speed, multitasking, and energy usage.

But of course is no comparison to its regular cousins though they do use more energy.

It may even 'feel' as fast as the P8400 comparatively, in non CPU bound tasks, but the single core 'M' is hampered by a single core/single thread architecture that any modern O/S (or even XP with SP3) hammers much to hard in even 'normal' use.

Here is a 3DMark06 benchmark that shows the 1.7GHz Pentium M at 698 while the SU7300 is scoring 1163.

For comparison to our P8400's the same score is 'only' 2030, while the Atom scores 825 a little above the Pentium M (the dual core version of the Atom 330) or at worst, a little more than half of what the Pentium M achieves; 391 points (Atom Z520).

Like I said at first, the SU will feel the same as our P in normal tasks (when not pushing the CPU's limits), but should completely dominate the Atom and P 'M' platforms not only in everyday tasks, but even in more demanding applications too.

    Hope this helps.

The SU7300 is faster than the atom for sure but a P8400 would thrash it... anyways , may i recommend a good 13 inch notebook? Sony Vaio Z series is comming out soon with core i5 and GT330M and switchable graphics... if u need a notebook urgently , i recommend Sony VAIO CW series with core i5 and GT330M... but its 14 inch. The notebook are light and pack a punch.

About the same performance of a mobile 1.8 GHz Merom.
