    I'm really impatient with speed.
So will this be fast? Or should I really get 2.0, 2gb ram?

    THANKS.
Btw, I don't do anything but just go online and write papers, spreadsheets, and presentations. I watch DVDs too, but thats it.

    Will this be fast enough?

The C2D 1.8ghz is fine and for writeing papers and so on 1GB will be ok too. There is no need for 2.0Ghz, you wont see a noticable differance. The 2GB would be nice to have. It will help alot when you are multitasking and have many windows open.

umm, you dont even need 1.83 GHz.... get a T5500 (1.66GHz), if its more then a $60 upgrade to go to 1.83

i game and the 1.66GHz can keep up if that says anything (i play battlefield 2142)

I recommend the 1.66GHz processor and invest the extra cash into RAM. Vista really needs 2 GB but if pressed, 1 GB should be fine.

I second what everone says, you'll be perfectly fine with the lowest CPU but get more than 1 gig of ram for sure.
