Hello all,
My main computer is an older desktop with an ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. I use it to play some games - the most powerful being Diablo 3, Skyrim, and Oblivion (though at lower settings).
Unfortunately that computer is having some hardware problems so I'm not sure how much longer it will work. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W510 laptop with a Quadro FX 880M graphics card. How does this graphics card compare to that on my desktop? I know both are old models but I'm not a hard core gamer and I don't mind playing at lower settings so I want to see if the W510 will suffice for my casual gaming needs.

It is about 1/4 as fast as the desktop 4850

It's pretty weak. I wouldn't really try it.
It's slower than most of the Intel HD integrated graphics that are available today.
Unfortunately, I think that anything 3d-gaming related is going to be out of the picture for you. That includes even some of the games with low system specs, like League of Legends and Dota 2.
Your best bet for gaming is to get your desktop computer back up to speed ASAP. And if you must do gaming on your laptop, I'd recommend you checking out some great 2D games that don't require a lot of graphics power. The Telltale games series are great if you like adventure games. FTL is great if you like Sci-Fi RPG spaceship-command. And any of the old games on GoG that run in DosBox are fantastic. I just picked up TIE Fighter Collector's Editiion, Panzer General, and Fantasy General for a few bucks. Those types of games are perfect for laptop gaming. -

FX880M is faster than 9600M GT by ~10-20%, somewhere on par with 4650 mobility, so I can't say it's unusable for the given game names, unless you want more than low-mid settings.
You can also try overclocking it, think it will handle 650Mhz+ core and 1000+ on memory with ease.
How good is a Quadro FX 880M for casual gaming?
