Canada Computers | Hard Drives | Patriot Pyro 120GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (SSD), Read: 550MB/s, Write: 515MB/s (PP120GS25SSDR)
After rebate.
HOWEVER, I also found this, for $159.99:
Canada Computers | Hard Drives | Patriot Pyro SE 120GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (SSD), Read: 550MB/s, Write: 520MB/s (PPSE120GS25SSDR)
And I'm not quite sure what the difference between Pyro and Pyro SE is, other than the fact that they are slightly different sizes (although I'm not even sure that's true since it's presented on those pages in inches for some reason, and it could have been rounded off two different people).
My market research so far has turned up the following situation:
1. Avoid OCZ
2. Sandforce's issues are supposedly cleared up now
3. M4s are great, but the 64GB model is slow. A problem since that one is currently on sale and the 128 is not.
4. Apparently NOBODY has ever used a friggen Octane to know how it compares as an OCZ without Sandforce
But there's little mention of Patriot below the Wildfire grade. How does the Pyro stack up?

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
This might help explain the Pyro SE.

Basically the SE is like the Vertex 3. It uses synced flash modules instead of asynced flash modules for higher sustained write and read speeds as well as higher iOPS. In other words, the normal Pyro is like an Agility 3.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Right, so the SE is the better value deal. The numbers are impressive for the cost, but can anyone testify to how the SE holds up in real world situations? Failure rates, firmware issues, performance problems, any recent recalls (can't find anything) things like that.

Seriously, how underground is Patriot? I never really figured them to be an obscure brand or anything, but when it comes to discussing issues with the SandForce SF-2200 they never come up, and I've been searching for days. Was the Sandforce issue isolated to OCZ or did anyone ever definitively confirm that Corsair's issues came from it too?
I can find plenty on it's performance charts - and they're excellent - but nothing on the SE's penchant for reliability like you can find for Intel, Samsung or Crucial (and against OCZ and budget Kingston).
Well, I can still cancel my order but I guess I will take the plunge and hope that 3 year manufacturer warranty covers me in case of problems.
How is this Patriot Pyro for $149.99 CAD?
