Nice tool.. i'll try it out later but is there any way to do so using performance monitor as it is way easier? Thanks for all ur help so far.
-
Well that tool doesn't work well... Bump...
-
It may be that that level of monitoring is simply not available from your motherboard, much as in many older notebooks, where you can't access battery charge/discharge rates.
-
Something tells me you gotta install the Intel chipset drivers.....
I think that is where the OS gets those sensor readings from. -

Firstly, i've already installed the latest chipset drivers. Secondly , my notebook isn't old.. its off the Montervia platform. Thirdly , this counter program doesn't work. The CPU speed is wild and erratic and it doesn't show discharge rate. I don't know . It might be BIOS limitations since HP locks out how long your battery lasts etc. Anymore suggestions?
-
Well, we should see why the Preformance monitor is whacked out on your machine. Care to post the whacked out graph?
-
here are some pics.. did it similar to what is shown in first thread. Doesn't work ... only the CPU usage shows...

Processor time looks right. It is bouncing between 6 and 8.
Click on discharge rate and post a screenshot. -

Can you highlight the discharge rate counter so we can see the last/average numbers it's spitting out? I think you probably just need to adjust the scale of the chart, since the discharge rate counter (at least for me) defaults to milliwatts...

Discharge rate. You've highlighted Charge rate, Taq, Charge rate, and Charge rate, respectively.
Oh, and you need to be on battery too. -
Ya, understandably, charge rate is zero.
-
discharge rate is highlighted... its in the first pic and is in green... it is 100%...

Scale looks off?
-
Scale is off. use 0.000000001 as your scale.
-
it just stays constant...doesn't change.. although now the scale is proper... must be hp problem...
-
it stays constant because it is a discharge rate.
If it was the total amount of discharge, then yes, it would go up as time went on.
The discharge rate on your laptop does not change with time. At least not during the test.
Check out your remaining capacity. -
so which one do i have to use to measure power usage? I want to know how much power is being used.

Set your scale to like 10000 or 20000 max. It's trying to measure in milliwatts. Don't make it smaller. You will see it fluctuate.
Else, just use the battery meter in RMClock.
EDIT: Scratch that, yours is indeed doing something weird... I have no idea why it's measuring in billions of something. You can still try battery meter in RMClock. -
what do u mean the battery meter in RM clock? I have RM clock so which part of it is the battery meter part?
