A lot of RAM manufacturers are saying on there web pages that the Dell Studio 1735's can only support 4GB of RAM.
But I did notice that on Dells website they offer the Dell Studio 17 with a option of 8GB of RAM.
Corsair is selling PC2-6400 RAM in a kit including 2x 4GB SoDIMMS for $505 I thought that is a good price and am thinking of buying it.
Only if my system will support it, Im running Windows 7 64bit.
Any help would be great.
Also do you know any companies that sell SSD hard drives at a good price ?

The Studio 17 with 8GB on Dell's site is the newer 1737 model. That said, there have been success stories of getting 8GB to work on models that supposedly didn't support it.
What exactly do you need 8GB of memory for in the first place? -
mainly thought it would come in handy having the extra memory when playing high demanding games

Hey Mastershroom I am running twin hard drives in my 1735 and someone told me that I should set my machine up to run a RAID 0 ( Striping ) setup and that it would give better performance and the machine would look at the two drives as 1 logical device.
What do you think about this ??? In my BIOS my drives are setup as AHCI whatever that is.
Would my machine be able to be setup on a RAID 0 or not and if so do you know of a good tutorial showing how to do this with Windows 7 RC 64bit ? -
You will never need more than 4GB of RAM if gaming is the most intense thing you're doing. Believe it or not, gaming doesn't use nearly as much memory as other things, like CAD software or multiple virtual machines.
As for the RAID setup, it's true that RAID 0 will make your two drives appear as one and improve speeds. This is because it divides every file evenly between the two hard drives. I'm not sure how you would go about setting it up on a 1735 though; I'm used to the 1535 which only has one HDD. -
The framerate is exactly the same above 2GB of RAM as 2GB of RAM.
Meaning 8 GB of RAM will not run a game faster than 2GB of RAM.
How much RAM can a Studio 1735 support
