    1x512Mb on the Laptop
2x1Gb dual channel on the Desktop

The memory difference is very noticable. I don't think it'll be much longer before I add a second 512Mb stick to the notebook

    1 GB here.

512 came with the laptop, but a few weeks later RAM was on sale at my big box store. Overall, I've found a bit better performance...way better than the 128 MB I have on the ol' desktop :)

Hmm why does cpuz say that I'm running dual channel when I have 1.5gb ram (1gb+512mb sticks)?

    btw i voted for 1.5 :)

the more ram the marrier for me. Its also a compensation for my internal memory shard gpu.

1 GB for me...I don't think anymore will help me at all. I moniter the heck out of RAM usage and even in gaming I don't get close to 1 GB! When I build a desktop though, I'll shoot for 2 GB...just because I can lol.....

Me too, 1024(2x512MB) DDR2 667 is enough for me. Only search the Internet, pictures and photo editing and common documentation are my daily task with my PC.

actually, you can configure the dell precision notebooks with 4 gigs ram, but the upgrade costs almost as much as the computer, if not more.

I have 1 GB of RAM and it serves me well I must say. I don't really see a need to have more than that for XP right now, even for gaming.
