I find the other thread is getting a bit outdated with the RAM amount - Now that 6 - 8GB are getting common now a days like those Asus users with 3 Sodimm slots for 6GB-12GB (Asus G71Gx) or what Dell is offering recently in their configurations.
Or if you are an Dell Precision M6400 user who has 4 Sodimm slots up 16GB RAM.![]()
I'll start:
Dell XPS M1730 with 8GB (2x4GB DDR2-667 G.Skill 5-5-5-12) RAM
Dell Inspiron 1720 with 6GB (1x4GB + 1x2GB DDR2-667 G.Skill 5-5-5-12) RAM
Reason for acquiring more than 4GB: Photoshopping (eg. poster making, architectural renderings, photo stitching, building plan colouring etc) VMWare Workstation for running Virtual OSes like XP Pro x86, 3Ds Max, AutoCAD, Adobe Premier, CoreDRAW/Photopaint, Adobe Illustrator etc.
With these applications I use, I can hit as high as 7.8GB of RAM. But during these days I hit around 5-6GB.
What's yours?![]()

I have two computers; the notebook in my signature and a custom built desktop. They both have 4GB of memory.
-
3GB now, but will move to 6-8 when 1x4GB DDR3 chips are reasonable
-
1GB.
Yeah, that's right.
Pentium 3-M, 1GB PC133
Pentium 4-M, 1GB PC2100
If it's any consolation at all, my desktop has 6GB. -
Laptops:
Lenovo Thinkpad T500: 2GB DDR3
Averatec 2155: 1GB + 256MB DDR
Desktops:
eMachines: 2GB + 512MB DDR2
Compaq: 1GB + 1GB DDR2
HP: 512MB + 512MB DDR2
The laptops are mine, and the desktops are the rest of my family's. I only recently added more memory to the HP desktop, and my Averatec had 512MB for a long time.
My old Dell Latitude that I just packed up a few months ago had 128MB. -
My general-use notebook currently has 1x2GB DDR2, but that will go down to 2x512MB when I get my media/gaming notebook back which will then have 2x2GB DDR2.
My desktop has 2x256 MB DDR, but it's a desktop so I haven't voted for it in the poll. -
My laptop has 3gb. Running 32 bit, so no point in going to 4 gb.
-
MBP Aluminum with 4GB.
-
desktop 4gb, laptop 2gb
-
Most have 2Gb of memory, the octitron has 8Gb
all specs in sig

-
I have just the stock 6Gb in the W90.
-
Did anyone request to have the other thread closed??? If not, than the other thread should be closed..If it has been closed already..that's a good thing!
My XPS 1530 = 3 GB
My Dell Mini 9 = 1GB
Cin -
I have 3GB and I only hit 3GB once but I can get over 2GB if im not careful.
-

Thanks for starting this new poll; I closed the old one and have referred everyone to this thread.
Laptop and desktop have 4GB. I run Vista 32-bit on both machines so I only see about 3GB. 3GB is still more than enough; I surf the Internet, use text editors, spreadsheets, and play games (Left 4 Dead mainly). -
2 GB for laptop, 4 GB planned for desktop build.
EDIT: Oops just realized this poll is just for laptops. Oh well I voted for 4 GB as well -
Inspiron 1420 - 2gb
Inspiron 1520 - 4gb
Aspire One - 2gb
Dell Vostro 200 Desktop - 2.5gb
Mini ITX PC - 2GB
Old NoName PIII Pc - 512mb
I plan on adding another mini itx that has 2gb -
Multi vote? OK.
My Vaio (SZ71VN/X) has 4GB
My old Medion laptop, now used as a serverhas 1GB (2 different 512MB modules)
My mother's Medion has 2GB
And my mother's old Medion (my grandfather has it) has still got 512MB
They all still work, and the laptop my grandfather has is about 4 years old. 4 years and 4 months...
Our old Asus with 256MB failed about 5-6 years ago... -
4GB in my Studio 15 and 2GB in my T42; the latter is by far the best laptop I have ever owned (or will own in the future).
-
I have 2GB of RAM installed on my C762NR and 4GB of RAM installed on my Dv6t.
-
4gb on my dv3t.
are there any 16gb notebooks? -
6gb on my Toshiba M700, 1gb on my Sony UX380N, 2gb on the wife's Gateway E100M
-
/I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong -
4 GB on my M1330 and 1 GB on my first or second generation Macbook (it has a Core Duo, any Mac fans wanna try pinning it down?)
By the way, for those of you with 6 GB of RAM, is it 1x 4 GB stick and 1x 2 GB stick, or 2x 3 GB sticks? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I've got 2GB on all my machines. Plenty for what I do. -
Or do they have 3 DIMM slots in their business line? -
I have a 4gb + 2gb... Dell probably sells a 4gb + 1gb to get their 5gb
-
Ahh, that makes sense. 1 GB sticks are such ancient history that I totally forgot about them.
-
I have one 2GB DIMM in my T500. Planning to add one more 2GB DIMM later on, but 2GB is plenty enough for my uses right now.
They probably have a 4GB DIMM + 1GB DIMM setup
EDIT: TabbedOut beat me to it -
The M6400 can support 16Gb (4x 4gb), but 16Gb isnt all that much when your laptop has 32Gb
My homemade laptop has 20Gb of memory installed in it, It will have 32Gb shortly.
My Dell E1505 has 4GB, My Lenovo T61 has 4Gb (given to my brother) My Clevo D900K had 2Gb - which was the max for that laptop, My Dell inspiron 8500 has 2Gb - which was the max for that laptop, my Dell Latitude C640's had either 512mb or 1Gb in them. My Mitac M8355 had 1Gb in it, and my Compal CL-56 has 1Gb in it.

4GB over here but only a 32 bit OS

I have 4GB in my notebook (see signature), and 2GB in my desktop which I don't use anymore since the hard drive croaked on me.
-
I have 2GB in my laptop. Absolutely no difference between that and 4GB.
-
2GB on each of the two laptops; 4GB on server running 2 vm's.
-
12GB on the desktop, 4GB on the laptop.
Pretty soon, I'm going to be very glad I have 12GB on my system. -
The Dell Studio 14z's 5GB configuration comes from 1GB soldered in, and one memory slot which can take a 2GB (for 3GB total) or 4GB DIMM (for 5GB total).
As my sig shows, my Studio 1555 has 4GB, 800MHz DDR2. -
i have 4GB on my laptop and 1 GB on my old athelon XP desktop
-
Didn't we have these kinds of thrread before with a poll?
4GB in my SZ
and 1GB in my 4,5 years old laptop - currently running Win7 to host a website and share a Printer -
I saw the Envy from HP is also configurable with 16GB of RAM. I guess 4 RAM slots in notebooks are getting pretty common?
-
Not really, there are only 2 notebooks that have that AFAIK. The Envy 15 and the Dell Precision M6400.

4 GB of DDR2-800 that came stock in my Asus G51 series.
My desktop currently has 2 GB of DDR3-1333. Being an DDR3 AM3 system, it does quite well with it's Athlon II 250 x2, Radeon HD 4670 1 GB, and Windows XP SP3. Better than my Asus for gaming, especially at high resolutions in DX9Planning for major upgrades soon to Windows 7, Radeon 5870, >4 GB DDR3-1333, 1 TB HDD, wifi card and a quad or maybe octo-core AM3 chip down the road when available.

128MB for AMD K6-2 333MHz

3GB DDR2 667MHz for T7200 2GHz, 945 Chipset
3GB DDR2 667MHz for T5600, 945 Chipset
8GB DDR3 1066MHz for P9600 2.66GHz, GM45 Chipset -
2GB of DDR2-667MHz in my Inspiron 1520
EDIT: I'll make a new topic on second thoughts, shant hijack this one -

Thought I made a thread about how much RAM people are having.
