I'm thinking of upgrading to a new laptop. The new laptop has a GeForce GTX 560M GPU and my old one a GeForce 8800M GTS. Generally speaking, and not taking into consideration other factors such as CPU, RAM, etc., how much better is the GeForce GTX 560M than the GeForce 8800M GTS?

The new GTX 570M is 174% better than the 8800M GTS, so the GTX 560M shouldn't be that far off from that figure.

It has triple the shaders, 50% higher clocks and 50% more memory bandwidth and a more efficient architecture.
I would peg the 560m at approximately "far far far far better" than the 8800m GTS. -
I've been trying to decide whether I should upgrade the processor in my Gateway 6860FX to a T9300 and replace the battery (~230 total), or sell it and buy a new laptop (possibly a Sager NP8130 - i7-2630QM, GeForce GTX 560M).
Sounds as if the latter might be the better option? -
the 560 is roughly twice as fast... -
You shouldn't even ask the question, upgrade to a whole new laptop. Better CPU, RAM and GPU, it's a no brainer if you ask me.
