Im interested in Hp's new laptop g62t... the specs max out at i7 dual core(4 threads) 2.6ghz ---> 3.33Gghz turbo speed. 8gb of dd3 ram... and ati hd mobility 5430 512mb

I read this ati card is entry low level card... But is it better than 9400mg?
Because I current have 9400mg in my signature and Its a lil crappy... is this ati a lil better at least?
Will I be able to play casual games like Team fortress 2 with good settings?

I wouldn't expect a big, immediately noticeable difference.

You need to aim higher if you're concerned about gaming performance.

    What's your budget?

Im not aiming at demanding games only casual ones like team fortress 2, half life, I dont really play much games... I only like TF2...

I just want to know how these two cars compare, is the ati better than out date 9400mg? since 9400mg is 256 shared memory, ati is 512 dedicated plus its a newer card..... I want to know how much better is it? just a lil or at least twice as better?

Yes, the 5430 is the evolution of the 4330. Much better and it's dedicated. But still nowhere near a gaming card.

What are the clocks on the 5340? I can't find any info on it.

Anyway, just assume it's much faster. Not 2x though.

You'll be able to play TF2 and HL (and most steam games for that matter) at decent settings and fps. It's not a card for a full time gamer, however these games aren't as taxing on the system as others. I can play TF2 (at 1280x800 medium settings) on a Geforce go 7300 which is many steps down than this card.

Definitely go with the Ati. Also, source games are extremely cpu dependent so the i7-620 should be good.

I agree here too... In the 8000 series , it would have been bad solder but in the 9000 series , the GPU failures in some cases are due to overheating due to the notebooks not having proper cooling systems... and OP ,to answer your question , this ATI will be an improvement but don't expect much... Depending on ur budget , something like a $800 VAIO CW , which is 14 inch and with NVDIA GT330M will be a super upgrade for u... we really can't help anymore if u don't tell us a budget...

specifically you should see a 30% increase in performance. it will be noticeable but not like"wow"... but like previuosly mentioned without a budget no one will know what to recommend to you.
