Dunno, but the motherboard of a Dell Inspiron 1545 feels in the neighborhood of half a pound.

Half a pound sounds about right... I weighed a Latitude D630 and a Vostro 1510 motherboard recently and they were both in that range.

Well, depends on packaging too. That can easily add a pound or two depending on what dunnage and box you use.

for reference, 4 lbs (64 oz) is almost a 6-pack (72 oz) of beer.......

Packaging and insurance does add up surprisingly fast though.

Ounces are different from ounces, and you are also leaving out the weight of the cans themselves. One thing for sure though is that I always tend to way overestimate the weights of packages and luggage. I was afraid my bags were going to be right near the 50lb weight limit one time, and the heaviest was only 35lbs. Also you could send a laptop motherboard with first class mail which is super cheap as long as the total package is less than a pound or so, I forget. Should be easily doable if you try.

Liquid ounces are different from dry ounces, true, but water weighs very close to 1 dry ounce per liquid ounce. So a water-based beverage like beer, he wasn't that far off.
